The monster genre is mainly centered around the struggle between human and one being a monster. As there is no specific genre, monster movies may sometimes be labelled as a horror, sci-fiction or fantasy.

The film recieved a poor reception due to the low budget effects used, the plot and the acting which could have been polished.

The film, Alien Vs Predator was very successful grossing over $172 million which was the highest grossing for the franchise, however, the critics were generally negative. On Rotten Tomatoes the film scored a 21% approval rating.

The British-Canadian Horror film was based on a screenplay from Malcom Kohll and Gordon Render.

Despite the fact that Cloverfield reached more than $170 million in gross revenue, the film had been criticised for focusing on the perspective of the human cast. Also, the film has been said to look at terrorism and the 9/11 attacks.
EFFECTIVENESS
Many monster movies shown today tend to have less effect unless the special effects are done effectively so have an impact on the audience. Due to this reason many that have been released recently have recieved poor views such as the Anacondas: Trail of Blood (2009).
